Mr. Richard B. Tantoco, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Energy Development Corporation (EDC) on December 15, 2011 visited the Mount Apo Foundation, Inc. (MAFI). He was met by Atty. In a short program held at at the MAFI Function Room, Atty. Libre gave Mr. Tantoco an orientation on MAFI, its vision and mission, program thrusts and accomplishments. For his part, Mr. Tantoco said that EDC remains a strong partner of MAFI and that Mindanao Geothermal Production Field will stay as the Foundation’s linkage and support in all its development efforts. To the scholars present, he shared three things as guidance for their good future : 1) Develop and learn more skills and grab every learning opportunitythat increases competence in your work; 2) Maintain integrity in your life—be honest in every thing you do ; 3) Do not fall in love while studying—you may lose the chance of finishing your studies.
Mr. Tantoco then committed an additional financial support of P2 million annually to bolster and enhance the Foundation’s Educational Development Program. This is in addition to the financial resources MAFI receives as custodian of the Environment and Tribal Welfare Trust Fund (ETWTF) which comes in the form of P.01/kwh generated by Mindanao Geothermal Production Field (MGPF).
Members of MAFI’s local stakeholders and project recipients lauded the visit Mr. Tantoco claiming that the visit brought a very good news to the foundation’s lifeblood in its continuing pursuit to concretize the corporation’s vision and mission. The additional P2 million package to MAFI as a supplementary fund will increase the number of college degree and vocational scholars, expansion of High School Financial Assistance Project (HSFAP) outside MAFI’s 10 kms.
