MAFI Executive Director Atty. Ermelo Libre, on May 15 2008 attended the regular session of the Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP) of Kidapawan City to orient the council about the Foundation, its programs and accomplishments.
The orientation was in response to the invitation of Councilor Junares John Amador, one of the newly elected SP members, who have yet to be familiarized with MAFI as the custodian of the Environmental and Tribal Welfare Trust Fund which was established by virtue of the Environmental Compliance Certificate of the Mindanao Geothermal Power Project in Mt. Apo National Park.
Among the relevant information shared by Atty. Libre to the SP were the Foundation’s historical background, corporate structure, area of responsibility (AOR) and program thrusts. The Executive Director explained that MAFI’s AOR, is limited to the 10-kilometer radius of the Mindanao Geothermal Power Project, and it includes 13 barangays that are within the geo-political jurisdiction of Kidapawan City. He then focused his report of accomplishments to the projects implemented and being implemented in Kidapawan City since the Foundation’s incorporation in 1993.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod members overwhelmed by MAFI’s achievements as development partner in the City of Kidapawan. The much appreciated Collegiate Scholarship Project (CSP) had infact, drawn more support from the members. And as an offshoot to these, the Sangguniang Panglungsod of Kidapawan City passed and unanimously approved Resolution No.08-127; urging Government and Private Institutions to Employ MAFI Graduates to Uplift the Vision and Mission of the foundation.
With this, MAFI graduates has given more opportunity and increased their chance for employment in most establishments situated in Kidapawan City.
Aside from Councilor Amador, present during the orientation were: Vice Mayor Luis Malaluan and SP members Wilfredo Ablang, Alfonso Angeles, Jr. Franscisco Navarra, Richelle Ong, Lauro Taynan, Gregory Yarra and ABC president Gregorio Lonzaga. Councilor Roberto Omandac was on official business, while Councilors Dina Espina, SK Federaton President Joan Cayona and Joseph Evangelista were on leave.
