Ma-ag Tinikaran Project
Ma-ag Tinikaran Project (MTP) started in 2009. The project involves initial planting of 12,500 tinikaran (leptospermum flavescens) seedlings at Ma-ag area near the peak of Mt. Apo covering an area of five (5) hectares. The project activity includes regular maintenance of the tinikaran trees for a period of 5 years with the help of project partners. The tinikaran seedlings were provided by the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) including the initial clearing and preparation of the project site.
MTP aims to establish a continuing environmental undertaking to save the last frontiers of Mt. Apo, to provide opportunity for multi-level participation of various sectors, to promote the spirit of volunteerism as basis of involvement, to develop social responsibility for the environment as guiding value of participation and, to build unity and cooperation among project partners and Mt. Apo stakeholders.
