Agro-forestry Resource Development Project
In 2000, the foundation purchased 3.1-hectare agricultural land situated in Kiantog, Barangay Tagbak, Municipality of Magpet for the establishment and development of demonstration farm with sustainable crop production that will generate agro-forestry resources and by-products for distribution to farmers and other beneficiaries. The Agro-forestry Resource Development Project (AFRDP) aims to provide additional funds for the sustainability of the other regular program/projects of the foundation.
In 2002, a banana production project was established whereby by-products like suckers were distributed for free to interested farmers for their own backyard banana production. A portion of the area was also used in 2003 as vegetable garden to supplement the food supplies of MAFI scholars. In 2005, another 1-hectare portion was developed as a banana production project run and managed by the Cotabato Tribal Consultative Council for Development, Inc. (CTCCDI) to generate income for the Council.
At the end of the three (3) cycles of banana production in 2006, the land area was converted into rubber plantation and fruit orchard planted with durian, lanzones and mangosteen. The lot boundaries were also planted with forest trees. All funds that will be generated from development introduced in the area will be used to sustain the programs and projects of the foundation.
