Resource Mobilization Initiative – “Friends Raising”
MAFI explores partnership with the Chinese Consulate General in Davao for the empowerment of the youth, preservation of the IP culture and the protection of the environment in the Mt. Apo Natural Park.
The exploratory meeting, which was sought out by the Chinese Consulate General in Davao, was held on 17 September, 2021 and participated in by no less than the Consul General Li Lin and Vice Consul Ciao and MAFI Executive Director, Mr. Armando Pacudan and his staff, Ms. Thernalyn Pono (Program Manager), Mr. Hermenegildo Sayago, Jr, CPA (Admin/Finance Manager) and Mr. Deejay Bacag (Communications, Information Management and Safety Officer).
We look forward to the next steps of concretizing the foreseen cooperation between MAFI and the Chinese Consulate in Davao.
Congen Li Lin briefly introduced China’s achievements in full-around development and poverty alleviation after carrying out the opening up and reform policy for more than 40 years. In 2020, China has completed the task of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and accumulated quite a lot of experience in poverty alleviation. China would like to share these experience with other developing countries. He suggested to find some projects with common interest to begin the cooperation with MAFI especially in areas of environment protection, heritage inheritance and etc. He also expressed his strong interest in climbing Mt. Apo.
In his presentation, ED Pacudan introduced the MAFI and its milestones over the years since its founding in the 1993. Their ongoing programs are to ensure the sustainable and symbiotic relationship of the communities within the Mt. Apo Natural Park, to provide scholarship grants for senior high school and collegiate level students within and around the Mt. Apo Natural Park and to raise the welfare of the indigenous people within that area. He also expressed MAFI’s intent to collaborate with Chinese Consulate in Davao.
