STARTING THE YEAR 2022 WITH CLEAN SURROUNDINGS: Engaging MAFI Scholars in the Regular Clean-up Drive Around MAFI Compound

Traditionally in their scholarship journey, MAFI scholars are engaged, together with the staff, in the regular clean-up drive around the MAFI premises as part of the foundation’s effort to promote health and wellness and maintain hygiene and sanitation within and around the compound. As part of rendering their community extension service to MAFI, scholars are engaged to help in some administrative, general services and menial tasks for certain number of hours per semester.

On January 7, 10 and 12, 2022, respectively, some members of the MAFI Scholars’ Association (MSA) responded to the call of MAFI management and staff to start the year with a clean and hygienic surrounding.  Around 16 scholars rendered some hours to help the staff to upkeep the MAFI office by doing some filing, sorting, cleaning, washing, packaging the soap product, and grass cutting activities. The opportunity allowed the scholars to bond and relive their dormitory life prior to COVID-19 pandemic when they were used to residing full-time inside the MAFI compound and doing household routines. Much more, the clean-up drive emphasized the scholars’ teamwork and exercised their responsibility as scholarship grantees of the foundation.

For the job well done during the first cycle of clean-up during the first month of 2022, the management would like to thank the MSA members, as well as the staff, in their effort to provide time for the collective activities.

We hope that the succeeding group wellness in MAFI would be responded to with the same degree of enthusiasm and cooperation.

Kudos to the MAFI team!
